Below, we share the evolution of KME’s website design:
Pre-2005: The Internet Before KME
The Internet landscape looked vastly different before dedicated digital marketing agencies became commonplace. High-speed internet did not exist, and the comparatively narrow capabilities of dial-up modems limited early websites to basic HTML layouts that featured text only. Navigating these “Walls of Text” sites would feel unintuitive to us, as design layout concerns did not apply.
Businesses struggled to establish meaningful online presence during this time, and the first company websites often functioned as digital brochures. Nevertheless, as website design evolved through the 90s, features like table-based layouts, GIFS, and animated text started appearing. Early Internet adopters also experimented with basic banner ad campaigns (which PPC marketers still use) and found that this approach could broaden their reach and drive engagement. The breakthrough signaled the advent of online marketing services.
2005: KME’s First Website
When KME’s first website launched in 2005, it featured the company logo and hallmarks of early 2000s web aesthetics: table-based layouts, a simple color palette, and a handful of interactive elements (like clickable links and buttons). At the time, website layout and strategic media placement were growing in importance, as the rise of CSS had enabled developers to separate design and content concerns, a leap in creative freedom. Increasing use of whitespace and linked icons were also nudging websites closer to our modern notions of UX.
Like many companies of the time, KME’s initial web presence aimed to build an online presence and profile. Rudimentary SEO and PPC practices included commonplace techniques such as keyword stuffing—though these tactics are now widely considered ineffective and are even penalized by search engines. Nevertheless, our commitment to client accessibility was evident even then, as evidenced by the site’s fully functioning email submission form.
2015: KME’s Upgraded Website
By the early to mid-2010s, website design principles had shifted away from attention-grabbing visuals and were instead focused on interactive content and elements. “Rich design” color gradients, textures, animations, and drop shadows were popular, reflecting a growing concern with visitor interaction. It’s no coincidence that search engine optimization (SEO) rose to prominence around this time.
The 2015 KME website reflected these trends and made for a stark change from its decade-old predecessor. Our team implemented strategic white space into our layouts to create a clean, open feel that helped emphasize key content. We also expanded the available resources for users to learn more about our services and increased our page count to reflect our growing expertise and services. This redesign set the stage for a responsive website UX, which would continue to evolve in the coming years.
2025: KME’s Current Website
Modern website designs reflect a shift to minimalism and “flat design” featuring ample whitespace, oversized text, and few gradients. Users expect quick load times, intuitive navigation, and accessibility features (such as dark and light modes). Moreover, all designs must also incorporate mobile-friendly functionality for users on phones and tablets.
KME’s latest website focuses on creating a seamless and engaging experience for every visitor. Innovative features—like dynamic yet subtle animations and a simple navigation bar—create an engaging environment and intuitive design. We’ve also optimized the site for desktop and mobile devices to meet users where they are.

Working with designers ensures your site is an effective marketing tool that attracts traffic, conversions, and loyal customers. It can also provide a foundation for your branding efforts and enable you to launch further marketing channels like newsletters and social media.
